Detective Floyd Blue ~ Self-Defense Expert

    The Essential Life Skills for Success program is a NEW and unique concept which has been freshly written by the Gollatz Team for the more mature student. The young adults will learn and practice life skills not taught anywhere else but are vital for life's success. (The Essential Life Skills

    for Success program is not a continuation of the Cotillion events nor is it a type of supper club).

           Four Events Listed Below With a Food Service Offered at Each Event

​​Thursday, September 20, 2018 ~ Social Instruction: How to begin a conversation and continue the conversation with “small talk” ,handshakes, body language, direct eye-contact, how to navigate a room with an appetizer plate while introducing yourself to others, working a room, name tags, good guest vs. bad guest behavior, responding to an invitation and gifting the correct gift, how to write a thank you note, tying a necktie. Appetizers will be served to each student.*Please note dress code. 

​Thursday, October 18, 2018 ~ Social Instruction: How to sew on a button, netiquette, cell phone/ tablet do’s and don’ts, emoji’s and slang verbiage, different dress codes, clean clothes, socks that match,  hair tamed, clothes pressed, modesty with elegance, how to write a resume, understanding a check transaction and navigating a check. Appetizers will be served to each student. *Please note dress code.

 

​Thursday, November 29, 2018 ~ Social Instruction: The table setting including chop sticks, where different utensils are located, how to cut foods using a fork and knife, tipping, debit card deductions, statements, hidden fees, basic budget, point of purchase fees, surcharges,  shipping and handling fees, ordering on a phone or tablet. Dinner will be served to each student ( dinner is only served to the Life Skills member). *Please note dress code.

Thursday, January 24, 2019 ~ Social Instruction:  Basic self defense for both girls and boys,  keeping yourself safe and knowing your surroundings, how to shut off utilities to your house, the commanding of 911, drugs and alcohol, road side safety. Appetizers will be served to each student. *Please attend  with lose fitting clothes.*

The Self-Defense Instructor: Detective Floyd Blue - We are delighted to announce that Detective Blue is now a Gollatz Team Member and will be instructing the self-defense night.

Detective Blue's Biography:  Detective Blue put himself through a reserve police officer academy at age 18 and began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a Police Cadet. Officer Blue worked on patrol taking "cold" reports and as a jailer at the police station. In 1995 he became a Police Officer and has worked in 2 different California counties as police officer along with working  general and personal security at public venues and private events. He is currently a Detective assigned to the Special Victims Unit however, works robbery/homicide, property and fraud cases as needed.

Detective Blue is a Member of: LA ICAC Task Force (Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children) / CSAIA  California Sexual Assault Investigators Association) / APSAC (California Professional Society on the Abuse of Children) / CHIA (California Homicide Investigators Association) / CNOA (California Narcotics Officer Association) / Terrorism Liaison Officer / National Crime Prevention Association / Responsible for the department’s induction to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force / Conducts lectures on crime prevention, internet and social media safety  / Conducts in house training on investigating crimes against children and the subsequent report writing that follows / Member/ Instructor for the department’s Request A Training program / Conducts crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) assessments 

 

 

  Dress Code for the Life Skills Series (only):

​                                                                                                Girls: A simple, modest dress and low heels. .

  Boys: Dress shirt, necktie and nice pants, a blazer is optional.   

  Exception: The self-defense evening- please wear lose comfortable clothes and the students may wear tennis shoes.

​                         *Any student that does not want physically participate or feel they are not capable of escape techniques may just observe.
